How to perform Electromagnetic Noise Synthesis (ENS)?

Objectives

This article shows how to use MANATEE electro-vibro-acoustic simulation software to quickly calculate acoustic noise due to Maxwell forces using Electromagnetic Noise Synthesis algorithm.

Principle

ENS uses structural and acoustic model linearity to speed up calculations and give more physical insights as detailed in the article dedicated to ENS. ENS process separates calculation of operational magnetic loads (that can be evaluated using LIA or LEA techniques) and the vibroacoustic characterization of the electrical machine.

MANATEE software v1.04.09 mechanical module can apply ENS algorithm to the following structural models:

  • Patran structural FEA commercial software
  • Actran structural FEA commercial software

and to the following acoustical models:

  • Actran acoustical FEA commercial software

Coupling with other software are under study.

To perform ENS, a set of acoustic FRF must be first calculated. The ENS process based on wave FRF is then activated. The availability of a pre-calculated FRF is described with
